You can choose from a half day ride to get a taste of the adventure of a full safari completed on Horse Back. These Safaris cater for beginners and the experienced rider.

The Nordic Travel Team are always exploring interesting Safari options for our clients. Along with Mountain Climbing, Day Mountain Hikes, Adventure and Golf Safaris, we are now offering RIDING SAFARIS:

Option 1: Half Day Estate Ride

This ride begins at Nduruma Polo & Country Club based on Dolly Estate, Usa River where there are possible views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru.

There will be a short briefing after which the clients will leave on a two to three hour ride on the estate where they will have possible sightings of giraffe, zebra, eland, steinbuck, Thompson’s gazelle, Grant’s gazelle, dikdik, duiker, jackal, bushbuck and spectacular bird life. There may also be a chance for the clients to have close contact with a hand reared giraffe. They will then return to the club for drinks before returning to Arusha or continuing on to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Showers are available at the club after the ride.

Our rates include: Day membership for Nduruma Polo Club- facilities include swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, cash bar, horse guide, one horse per client, spare horses for the ride, riding helmets, mineral water during the ride.

Our rates exclude:

  • Tranfer of clients to Nduruma Polo & Country Club,
  • drinks (cash bar is available though).

Riding ability:

  • All riders must complete a TSS riding questionnaire before confirmation of a booking.
  • All clients must have medical insurance and flight evacuation cover and all will be required to sign TSS waiver and indemnity agreement.
  • The guide has the right to dismount any person he feels is incompetent and a danger to the group.

Child policy:

All children ride at their parents own risk.

A deposit of:

Payment must be made in full 14 days prior to a ride.

Option 2: 4 Nights Lolkisale Camp

Day 1
You arrive in camp in time for lunch. The horse guide will meet you and give a short briefing about the camp, the area and horses. At about 4pm after a siesta, you will return to the mess area where you will meet your horses. You will be taken on a gentle ride and return to camp in time for evening sundowners and dinner.

Day 2
After your morning wakeup call, breakfast will be served in the dining area. After breakfast, you will ride out from camp with your guide across the plains and have possible sightings of elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, greater kudu, lesser kudu and zebra among other antelope and birdlife. You will return to camp for lunch and a siesta during the midday heat. The late afternoon will again be spent on horseback viewing the wildlife and returning to camp for sundowners and dinner around the campfire.

Day 3
You will be woken earlier this morning with coffee or tea and a light snack after which you will set out on an early morning ride to see the animals before they retreat into the bush during the heat of the day. A brunch will be served in a secluded spot with your choice of a cooked breakfast with freshly baked camp breads or a cold buffet. After this you will ride back to camp where you will rest and relax in the afternoon. A short walk can be arranged while the horses take an afternoon rest. Sundowners and dinner will be served around the campfire.

Day 4
After your morning wakeup call, breakfast will be served in the dining area. After breakfast, you will ride out from camp with your guide into the hills and try to find an elusive leopard or other wildlife which hide there. You will return to camp for lunch and a siesta during the midday heat. In the afternoon you will set out towards the rock boulders where you can explore caves used by the Ndorobo tribesmen and the camp staff will be waiting with sundowners. The grooms will take your horses back to camp and you will return in the vehicles for dinner.

Day 5
After breakfast you will return to Arusha or continue on your safari to Ngorongoro or Serengeti.
